Have you ever wanted to create a clone or a new WordPress site that you could “play around with” or use as a test station? I ALWAYS create a subdomain of every WordPress site I manage to test plug-in updates, themes, etc. Here are the basics:
Create a subdomain
In your hosting site (Siteground, BigScoots, Fastcomet, etc.) create a subdomain. Go to Control Panel, then look for Domains and Subdomain. You can literally call it anything you want. (If you don’t already have hosting and WordPress, BigScoots is one of the very best hosting services!).
Next, name your subdomain and give details.
You should Install these basic plug-ins:
- Akismet Anti-Spam
- Cookie Notice
- Rank Math SEO
- Updraft Plus – Backup/Restore
- WordFence Security
A detailed video is available walking you through these basic steps. In the next series, we will walk through the plug-in activation, step-by-step, including installing extraneous applications such as setting up Google Analytics and Google Search.
For more information, see our Post at Blog Tech Training. It will take you the rest of the way.
Until Next Time, Happy Blogging!
